Bollywood meets blockchain: RECRD's game-changing platform
Empowering creators with instant payments, real ownership, and interactive engagement across borders

Imagine a platform where a viral video not only reaches millions but also pays its creator instantly, across borders and without banking hassles. RECRD is making this a reality, using blockchain to transform how creators around the globe share and monetize their work.
At the helm of this movement is Anoir Houmou, founder and CEO of RECRD, whose vision extends to every corner of the digital world—including India’s Bollywood scene. In a major new partnership, RECRD has teamed up with Shemaroo, one of India’s biggest Bollywood media companies. "We did a huge partnership with Shemaroo, right? Shemaroo is one of the biggest Indian Bollywood media companies," Houmou told The Crypto Radio.
This strategic alliance marks just one way Houmou's platform is using blockchain to empower creators. With a system designed for instant payments, ownership verification, and interactive features, RECRD opens new avenues for digital content. "The blockchain basically enables us to pay creators in countries that are very difficult to get paid in," Houmou explained, highlighting how the technology breaks down financial barriers that traditional platforms can't easily overcome.
RECRDs blockchain framework is designed to give creators true ownership of their content. Every video uploaded to the platform is minted as an NFT, a unique digital token that proves its originality and ownership.
This feature allows creators to maintain control over their content, and they can even sell these “originals” to fans who, in return, receive a share of the associated ad revenue. This model incentivizes not only creators but also audiences, who are invited to participate more actively in the success of their favorite content.
The platform's standout “rebounds” feature adds another dimension to the user experience. Rebounds, which are essentially video replies, encourage users to respond directly to each other’s videos, creating real-time, ongoing conversations. "The hero video on RECRD is not the original video, it's the people responding to that video," Houmou revealed.
Unlike traditional platforms where users primarily watch and move on, rebounds foster a dynamic, interactive community. "We're really going after a style of content that is not really exposed on TikTok or on Instagram or on Facebook," he said.
The ability for users to create reactive content seems to have struck a chord, as the platform quickly went viral in India. RECRD reached nearly one million users in just three weeks after its initial beta launch. "It was an accident. We didn't expect it to go viral, basically when it's still in beta," he admitted.
Houmou attributes this rapid growth to RECRD’s interactive style, where users don’t just consume content but join in conversations. As he put it, "People were rebounding each other… conversations actually happened."
Despite blockchain being the backbone of RECRD’s offerings, Houmou emphasizes that it’s not what users focus on. "The normal user doesn't care which blockchain you use, or anything like that," he said. "It just powers the platform to do what it's supposed to do."
For Houmou, the appeal lies in the interactive, creator-first experience—one that can attract a global audience in much the same way TikTok has. "It's kind of like TikTok, right? If you post a video on TikTok… does that translate in Australia? Does that translate in America? Yeah, it does."
With the Shemaroo partnership marking RECRD’s first major step into Bollywood, Houmou hints that it’s just the beginning. "They are going to engage with their fan base, and their fan base can do something with Shemaroo that's never been done before," he teased.
As RECRD continues to grow, its blockchain-powered approach to monetization, creative engagement, and global expansion has positioned it as a platform uniquely tailored to empower content creators worldwide. As Houmou put it, "the beauty of the platform is that they want to utilize records to… basically generate… something that’s never been done before."
