Visa and Coinbase are teaming up to bring real-time crypto transactions to millions of users.

Through Visa Direct, eligible debit cardholders can now instantly purchase or transfer crypto, bridging the gap between blockchain and traditional finance with an unprecedented level of speed and accessibility.

The payments service revealed the news in a press release, noting that the partnership offers “convenience and new services for Coinbase customers across the US and EU, including real-time, reliable, and secure money movement”.

Yanilsa Gonzalez Ore, the Head of Visa Direct, North America for Visa, shared in the release that “[they] are thrilled to be partnering with Coinbase to help service their customer's money movement needs… Providing real-time account funding using Visa Direct and an eligible Visa debit card means that those Coinbase users with an eligible Visa debit card know that they can take advantage of trading opportunities day and night.”

As for leading centralized exchange Coinbase, its user base has seen expansive growth. Millions of its users also have debit cards linked to their accounts.

Now, with the added feature and an eligible debit card, users will unlock real-time fund delivery.

Akash Shah, the Senior Director, Product Management in Coinbase, shared that “bringing this feature to [their] customers supports [their] mission of increasing economic freedom in the world”, adding that “the integration with Visa Direct gives [their] customers real-time access to their funds for trading”.

The senior director also added that the feature provides flexibility, security, and trust, as it enables users to manage their finances and move their money seamlessly.

With an eligible debit card, the new feature allows Coinbase users to instantly move their funds into their accounts, directly buy crypto, and cash out account funds.

US-based customers can also still avail of the Coinbase Visa debit card.

As Visa and Coinbase push the boundaries of digital finance, their partnership signals a step toward broader crypto adoption, giving users more control and flexibility in managing digital assets. This real-time service could pave the way for future innovations, as both companies continue to integrate traditional and crypto economies.
