Bilal Ahmed Mir of Carter Capital

The cryptocurrency space has transformed over the past decade, with Bitcoin emerging as a key focus for investors worldwide. In a recent interview with The Crypto Radio, Bilal Ahmed Mir, founder of Bitcoin asset management firm Carter Capital, shared insights into Bitcoin’s rise, its growing relevance in the Middle East, and practical tips for newcomers exploring this transformative asset.

Mir's foray into Bitcoin began in 2016, before the digital currency entered mainstream discussions. “When I started talking about Bitcoin in 2016, not many people wanted to listen to me,” he recalled. “A lot of people thought I was crazy—just talking about magic, invisible internet coins.”

Today, the narrative has shifted dramatically. Institutional investors, governments, and public figures are increasingly focused on Bitcoin, and interest has grown exponentially.

By 2024, Bitcoin's rise has even entered the political sphere in several countries, underscoring its growing significance in global finance.

Carter Capital

Carter Capital manages Bitcoin investments on behalf of its clients, with a focus on generating low-risk, long-term returns. “People entrust us with their capital, and we focus on providing steady growth over time,” Mir explained. By treating Bitcoin as a unique and pristine asset, the firm aims to guide clients through its complexities with a long-term perspective.

In particular, the Middle East has become a hotspot for Bitcoin adoption. “The region has always been forward-thinking, especially in scientific and technological fields,” Mir said. “Compared to other regions, I’ve noticed a very open-minded approach to Bitcoin and crypto assets in general.”

Carter Capital’s active participation in Middle Eastern Bitcoin events highlights the region’s enthusiasm. At a recent conference, Mir exchanged ideas with other practitioners and enthusiasts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration. “We spend a lot of time researching and studying Bitcoin, and it’s always good to hear from others in the market,” he added.

There is growing recognition of Bitcoin’s ability to act as a store of value and hedge against inflation. “It’s a unique asset in the financial landscape,” Mir remarked. As investors seek alternatives to traditional assets, professional Bitcoin asset management is increasingly in demand.

Advice for new investors

For those new to Bitcoin, Mir's advice is simple: start small. “Invest a small amount—whatever that means for you—and study later,” he suggested. He believes that investing real money creates a deeper understanding of the asset and its dynamics.

Currently, Bitcoin represents just 0.2% of total global investable assets, but Mir sees this figure increasing over time. “Maybe it makes sense to allocate 0.2% of your portfolio to Bitcoin now,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of thinking long-term.

As Bitcoin continues to evolve, its potential as both an investment and a global financial disruptor becomes harder to ignore. With leaders like Mir guiding investors, the path to understanding and embracing this asset is becoming clearer—one step at a time.
