In a milestone for the global crypto community, Telegram-native tokens $DOGS and Notcoin lit up the skies of Dubai with a Guinness World Record-breaking drone show during the closing ceremony of TOKEN2049.

A total of 1,500 LED drones took flight over Madinat Jumeirah, forming crypto-themed imagery tied to TON (The Open Network), including a glowing bone – the emblem of the $DOGS token – which secured the world record for the largest drone-formed bone using multirotor drones.

The category appears to be newly established by Guinness, with no publicly documented previous record holder.

Organized by DOGS and Notcoin, the 15-minute display blended aerial choreography with visual storytelling, offering a striking example of how crypto communities are experimenting with public spectacle to raise awareness. Drone shows like this are increasingly used by web3 projects as a bold, regulation-free way to gain visibility and engage new audiences.

Visual storytelling in the sky

The show began at 7:30 p.m. on May 1, featuring synchronized displays of the TON, $DOGS, and Notcoin logos, which merged into the official TOKEN2049 emblem. Drones then depicted the Telegram logo, celebrating the platform’s milestone of 1 billion users.

This was followed by a pulsating Notcoin logo alongside its ironic slogan, “Probably Nothing.” The phrase, long used in crypto circles, downplays announcements in a tongue-in-cheek way – signaling that something big is, in fact, happening.

Moments later, a colossal glowing bone filled the sky, paired with the phrase “Who let the DOGS out”, the unofficial rallying cry of the $DOGS meme community on TON.

The grand finale featured a massive image of “Spotty”, the $DOGS mascot, based on an original drawing by Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, created for a charity auction.

TON tokens break records and reach wider audiences

Beyond the record attempt, the drone show marked a high-profile effort to bring web3 visibility into the mainstream. It demonstrated how Telegram-based tokens and projects are expanding from online communities into physical and cultural spaces.

From viral memecoins like $DOGS to gamified tokens like Notcoin, the TON blockchain is positioning itself as a platform for broader engagement, using entertainment and community identity as tools for outreach.

Observers viewed the event as an example of how crypto initiatives are seeking to break free from niche circles and connect with general audiences through humor, branding, and large-scale visuals.

As the skies of Dubai turned into a canvas for crypto promotion, the drone show at TOKEN2049 illustrated a growing trend: web3 projects are no longer confined to online spaces. With $DOGS and Notcoin at the forefront, and TON gaining visibility as an infrastructure for adoption, the event showed how spectacle and symbolism are being used to push blockchain narratives further into public view.

While drone shows avoid the smoke and noise of fireworks, they still require significant power and coordination – prompting some to question the sustainability of large-scale crypto marketing.
