World’s first web3 laptop makes crypto safer
The latest tech ensures security for your digital investments and rewards for your activities

In a world first, a revolutionary web3 laptop will soon hit the market—thanks to a collaboration between French technology firm Metavisio (through its Thomson Computing brand) and US-based tech company IO FinNet.
Stephan Français, CEO and founder of Metavisio, described the web3 laptop as “a gateway to a decentralized future, empowering users to truly own their digital experiences.” He added, “More than just a device, it's designed to help individuals connect, create, and reclaim control of their digital lives.”
Gregory Pepin, CEO of IO FinNet, echoed this sentiment, stating, “By combining our expertise, we aim to transform how the world interacts with technology while propelling France to the forefront of Web3 leadership.”
What makes this laptop different?
One of the laptop’s standout features is its specialized operating system, Web3 OS, designed for easy interaction with decentralized applications (dApps)—online tools powered by blockchain technology. It also includes a built-in cold wallet, a secure storage option for crypto assets that isn’t connected to the internet, making it safer from hackers.
Metavisio emphasized the importance of security, citing staggering figures: “With more than $1.7 billion stolen from centralized exchanges in 2023 and $3.8 billion in 2022, integrated cold storage will enable users to take control of their crypto custody and avoid placing their digital wealth at risk.”
The laptop will also use a multi-party computation (MPC) framework for added protection. MPC splits critical security codes, known as private keys, across several locations rather than storing them in one place. This makes it much harder for hackers to access user funds.
Rewards for users
The web3 laptop comes with a unique token ecosystem, allowing users to earn digital tokens by engaging in activities like using dApps or sharing resources. In the future, users can also expect token airdrops—free distribution of tokens to wallet addresses as part of promotional campaigns.
Metavisio confirmed plans to launch its own token to support this ecosystem, ensuring users are rewarded for their participation in the web3 world.
Price and launch timeline
The laptop’s price is expected to range from €499 ($523) to €2,000 ($2,100), depending on the model. While the exact release date hasn’t been revealed, Thomson Computing stated that the proprietary operating system should be complete by the first quarter of 2025, marking the beginning of prototype development.
Français concluded, “With the world’s first web3 laptop, we will deliver much more than just a computer; it’s a unified platform for web3 that does not compromise on hardware or security. This is something the industry fundamentally needs to onboard the next billion users to web3.”
